Owners of digital currency in the future may face imprisonment for up to three years for violating the rules for reporting transactions with them. This follows from the amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes prepared by the Ministry of Finance.

Individuals and organizations must report to the Federal Tax Service on the receipt of digital currency, transactions with it and balances in the crypto wallet, if the amount of transactions exceeds the equivalent of 600 rubles in a calendar year.

Criminal liability can be threatened if the owners have not reported to the tax authorities at least twice in three years on transactions with digital currencies.
