The creators of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine said it was at least 2 percentage points more effective than the vaccine developed by Pfizer.
“The effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine was 92%,” the developers said on Twitter. It is noted that the data were obtained from the first interim analysis of the third phase of clinical trials.
Earlier, the American pharmaceutical concern Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech announced that their BNT162b2 vaccine is 90% effective against coronavirus. The EU has already announced the purchase of 300 million doses of the vaccine.
As for Sputnik V, today its mass production and deliveries to Russian regions have begun. “The world’s first registered Sputnik V vaccine went into civilian circulation and began to spread today across the regions, industrial scale is increasing,” said the Minister of Health Murashko. It is expected that half a million doses will be produced in November, and 1,5 million in December.
