Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Alexei Navalny could have been poisoned in Germany.

“We have reason to believe that everything that happened to him in terms of the penetration of chemical warfare agents into his body could have happened in Germany or on an airplane where he was loaded and taken to the Charite clinic,” Lavrov said, noting that “Will not go into details.”

On August 20, Alexei Navalny was hospitalized in Omsk after an emergency landing on the plane on which the politician was returning to Moscow from Tomsk. Two days later, he was transported to Germany at the Charite clinic. Now he is discharged and is restoring his health.

The German government reported that Navalny had been poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group. A German military laboratory found traces of a toxic substance from this group in samples of Navalny’s skin, blood and urine. The laboratories of France and Sweden came to the same conclusion.
